For Three Grand A Night Shouldn't Your Stay Be Rat Free?

As always, be advised the following is just one guests opinion, and if you haven't figured it out by now, hotel experiences vary from guest to guest.

Let's take a closer look at the North Island Lodge, one of the gorgeous places cited in the various most expensive lists we have been featuring.

The Hotel Story Post Break

Beautiful scenery no doubt, but the last thing you want to see when you are paying upwards of $3000 a night is a rat!

And a recent North Island Lodge guest wasn't so lucky.

My girlfriend and I both love animals but it really got too much when we understood the villas are infested with large rats. Coming back to the villa at night or going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, was a mission.

While there is no doubt this rat thing could have been an anomaly, this particular guest was not overly impressed with the service at the North Island Lodge:

The island and the villas are really spectacular, not to mention the golf car you have at your disposal to explore the island. Sadly, it stops here. Service, even on a plain level, was completely non-existent or malfunctioning. Almost every time we ordered room service (it takes at least 1.5h to get it to your room) we did not get what we ordered or something was missing. Imagine having waited 1.5h for your dinner and when you finally get your semi-hot food they have forgotten the wine, the side dish or the starter.

Again, when you are dropping four digit scratch nightly for a bed everything better be near perfect.

We would suggest calling and having a frank discussion with hotel management if you are seriously considering this place for a dream vacation or honeymoon. Give them a chance to tell their side of the story, then make up your own mind.
