When I arrived in Cali, I first found the tourist area; the main area is Sixth Avenue, which is where the Nightlife is. There are many Discos, Bars, and Restaurants. I asked on the street, for hotels nearby. I found that there were a few within walking distance, but because I did not speak much Spanish, the beautiful lady was nice enough to walk me the two blocks to Cali Plaza.
I liked Cali Plaza immediately. It looked good, and was close to everything. The owner and manager were very helpful and knowledgeable; they were Americans and spoke English. This sold me on staying there. We became friends; they saved me money on the exchange rate. ATM's give a better rate than exchanging cash. They helped me with translating when I needed it, and many other things. They were honest and sincere. You don't find that much anymore. They kept me out of trouble. That says it all. The building is very nice and in a safe and desirable location. Cali Plaza has Apartments or Condos, and also Hotel rooms. You can rent or buy. I'm glad I lucked up on it. I didn't know the area before, but if I go back to Cali, Cali Plaza is where I'll go. My favorite place to sit at night is Viejo Barril Cafe & Bar (Old Barrel, it is located just across the street from Cali Plaza.
