NY Times Checks Out Kimpton San Diego

NY Times journo Austin Considine contemplates Hotel Solamar in San Diego:
A mélange of minimalist lines, deep, earthy woods and exotic fabrics embroidered with sea turtles and other marine images creates a contemporary ocean motif throughout the hotel.
Huh? Mélange, minimalist, motif. With all that fancy alliteration we aren't sure what to expect.
We know that this is one of Kimpton's newer properties, it resides in the Gaslamp district, is a block from Petco Park, and comes equipped with free WiFi.
Considine seems to get a little miffed at the room service when they forget to bring up apple-smoked bacon.
The Times bottom line? Gorgeous property, but the service still needs to step it up a notch.
