Favorite Hotel Swimming Spots
If you enjoy a nice hotel pool, check out this old Seattle Times article on the 10 Favorite Hotel Swimming Spots. Writer Gary Warner's decides his favorite hotel pool is Hotel Gellert in Budapest.
Despite the legendary hotel pool, Hotel Gellert itself is not a favorite with one recent visitor:
You´ll see pictures of the beautiful building and the fantastic baths and you´ll want to stay in the hotel, but I recommend you don´t.
The baths are fantastic...true, however you can buy a ticket to the baths, you don't need to stay at the hotel to enjoy them.
The standard room, which is quite expensive (over 100 Euro a night), is simply appalling--old cheap furniture, chipped chairs and beds, crappy carpet, very small room - barely a meter and a half around the bed. We got one with views to an inside courtyard consisting of low roofed buildings belonging to the hotel.
Ah, so luckily you can stay at the Hotel Gellert, or simply pay less than $10 to play pasha in its beautiful art nouveau 27-meter indoor swimming pool ringed with butterscotch-colored marble columns and lion heads spitting water.
