Is Hotel Roosevelt Entering the Pretty Much Screwed Era?

First John Popper gushes about the "scene" at Hotel Roosevelt, and now prices have gone into an all out nosedive.

This week Orbitz is promoting October rates at the hotel for only $109. So in a matter of months, Hotel Roosevelt has dropped its rates from well over $200 a night to nearly $100 a night.

Moreover, Amanda Scheer-Demme's Teddy's, the hotel's new private club, will take over celeb hosting duties from the embattled Tropicana, and VIP's will finally be able to get drunk in peace, without having to listen to the Orbitz crowd whine about their access privileges.

So what happens once Eva Longoria and crew stop sunbathing at the Roosevelt? Same thing that happens when you see Teri Hatcher on HD for the first time--it isn't pretty, so you just stop watching.

As one recent Roosevelt guest said:

The sad fact is, once this hotel is done being "the in place" for the hipsters, it will become simply a cheap hotel stripped of its glamorous furnishings and past.

Hell, at $100 a night, it might actually be worth a stay.

Let's hope for a comeback.
