Hotel Gansevoort's Ono Adventure

The NY Post chimed in on Ono, giving Jeffery Chodorow's place inside Hotel Gansevoort an O.K. review:

Where other Meatpacking-mall pastiche-ries are at least carved out of atmospheric old spaces, Ono's nooks and crannies inside the new Gansevoort have the edgy allure of a hotel-lobby sports bar. Ono is one of those places where reservationists tell you tables are available only at 6 and 10 p.m., even though there were plenty of empty seats between 7 and 9 p.m. on three occasions. Ono, here we go again.

Do you remember this Chodorow guy from the restaurant? Well it looks like Rocco DiSpirito is the least of Chodorow's problems. This guy has more lawsuits than in play than Al Davis. So of course, the owners of Matsuri, in the Maritime Hotel, where the chef's name is Tadashi Ono, are suing Jeffery for his use of the name Ono. Jeff's take?

They weren't even using the name until they found out I planned to use it for my restaurant. Now they've turned a little area in the entryway into the Ono Sake Bar. I came up with the name, because when I told my wife I was opening another restaurant, she said, `Oh, no!' " he says.

The Maritime owner snapped back:

I'm sure his wife said a lot of things in the last six months.

Poor Hotel Gansevoort, they just can't seem to consistently catch a break...remember this sign up near their "hot" pool?

Are we the only ones that would have liked to watch Hotel Gansevoort's first year of operations condensed into some sort of Burnett butchered show? The Opening? The Hotel? Whatever, it would be damn entertaining.
