Holiday visit to NY's Marriott Marquis
[Editor's note: Ask and ye shall receive. A reader weighs in on staying at the Marriott Marquis during the holiday season.]

For the average traveler, IMHO, choosing a hotel is all about Location, Location, Location. This is especially true when your location comes with a view, nearby attractions, and great service. We found all of this and more during our holiday weekend getaway to New York's Marriott Marquis.
We stayed at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel, which has 1,889 spacious, recently renovated rooms, located on 49 floors, in the heart of Times Square. Luckily, I had enough Marriott points to qualify for 2 nights in the city, which I reserved in September, which are necessary to guarantee a room during the busy holiday season.
Talk about a view- we especially enjoyed our drinks from the 48th floor revolving lounge, and restaurant, that over looks Times Square. We definitely felt the holiday spirit, with the multiple glittering gold trees throughout the hotel. The elevators are in the center of the hotel, and were very impressive, as they were glass enclosed and skied above the 49 decorated floors. My only complaint? Sometimes it took upwards of 15 minutes to get an elevator.
We requested a room with a view, as we were celebrating my birthday and our anniversary. Upon check-in there was a complimentary chilled bottle of champagne, and strawberries dipped in chocolate. Our room was on the 22nd floor overlooking Times Square where the ball drops- I'm sure it's the best room available for New Year's Eve! Hotel service was exceptional from check in, concierge, maid service, and wait staff.
The hotel's concierge services were able to get us front row center tickets to the Producers, although I did request the tickets way back in September. The concierge also impressed us with restaurant suggestions and general good service. Our trip would not be complete without a typical tourist tour of Rockefeller Center, NBC Studios, St. Patrick's Church, all of which are within a few blocks of our hotel.
I would definitely tell anyone going to NYC to experience the holidays at the Marriott Marquis, but be sure to plan ahead!
