Wanna know where the bueno porteños hang out in BA?

Check the Faena Hotel and Universe in the Puerto Madero Este docklands section of Buenos Aires.  Apparently, a local fashion designer named Alan Faena turned a turn of the century red brick grain silo into a property that Wallpaper* elected the Best New Hotel (January 2005).  The giant complex is both a hotel and "lifestyle" joint, which as far as we can tell means it has 83 hotel rooms, 80 privately owned apartments, a bistro, a cabaret, and yes even the ever-popular Turkish baths.

Mr. Target, Philippe Starck, helped Faena design the hotel and the two came up with a concept that Titanic style interiors, with Starck's new designs, and local accents.

"The Universe" even houses its own "finishing school" of sorts, where guests can take classes on art, food, history, and dance.

Prepare to pay right around $300 a night for the right to overnight at the Faena.
