New York Presbyterian Hospital Offers Hotel Rooms
Hmm. We just called over there and checked, here is the info: Rates are $175 per night, however, the man we talked to said we had to be in town on "hospital related" business. Not sure if buying a Snapple from the vending machine counts, we didn't get that far. Would feel kind of weird to take advantage of this, unless you know that the occupancy rate for the night you are looking for is low, that way all the patients and families that need a room get one, and you may actually be helping the hospital out. Obviously, taking a room away from a patient, or patients family is not a cool thing, so make sure you clarify the situation.
How far are you willing to go for a hotel bargain in New York City?
A HotelChatter reader writes in to inform us that New York's Presbyterian Hospital offers bargain rooms in a good part of town.
The best part? All rooms come with a full kitchen, so you don't have to put up with hospital food.
I was a little creeped out when I found out that most hospitals have hotel accommodations that anyone off the street can book for a holiday. But it's actually a great deal, especially if you're visiting an expensive city like NYC. New York City's Presbyterian Hospital rents out hotel style apartments for families of patients, and also visitors to the area, as rooms are available. You're not staying right next door to a patient, but you are in a medical facility so you need to be comfortable with that idea before calling to inquire.
The rooms are fairly large compared to most New York hotels and are always clean and safe. It's in a beautiful part of town near Columbia University and close to subways and nightlife.
