Taking the low way at the High Way Hotel
January 11, 2005 at 4:24 PM | 0 Comments
Just outside of Glasgow on the popular hiking route from Milngavie to Fort William in Inverness-shire in Scotland, the Highland Way Hotel enjoys a prime spot right on the banks of bonny Loch Lomond. It may be modest in size and stature (and probably stars), but the hotel books and caters everything from weddings to corporate conferences and offers a full-service restaurant.
While reviews are few and far between due to the little hotel's out-of-the-way location and easy-going largely hiker-based clientele, the Highland Way Hotel made press recently when pub crawlers Paul Bennett, 22, and Darren McGlinchey, 19, broke in and made themselves a meal of deep-fried chicken goujons and whiskey. Unfortunately for the pair, they were intercepted by police before they could bed down for the night via a stolen room key.
If drunken Scots will actually break in to enjoy your food and sleep in your beds, your hotel must be doing something right -- right?
