They dub themselves "The World's Most Popular Hotel", but according to one New Yorker, that moniker isn't exactly the first thing that comes to mind when reviewing the Hotel Pennsylvania.

Here is what one HotelChatter reader thought of the Penn:

The Penn across from the Garden (Madison Square) is a dump.  The hallways smelled, the rooms were nasty, no headboards on the beds, and paint chips everywhere.

My friend threw his shirt against the wall and a bunch of paint chips stuck to it.

I stayed at motels all the way across the country, and the La Quinta, right next to the Memphis airport, is much better than this place.

Hotel Pennsylvania is suppose to be going through a major renovation, so let's hope they correct these issues sometime in the future.
