Careful when using STSN Wifi at Marriott Hotels
Another story of a terrible WiFi experience at a pay-for-wireless-hotel. In this case at the London Marriott Marble Arch in this case.
The basics of the story?
Hotel guest can't find a free wireless connection, so guest ponies up for the pay connection.
The interface stinks and pop ups are used for navigation (don't we all just close pop ups indiscriminately at this point?)
Guest forgets to log off and is charged a bunch of money for time she isn't even using the service.
The lesson? If you are going to use these paid wireless services at hotels, make sure you know how to log off.
Here is a quote from the angry Marriott visitor:
This surely plumbs new depths for ripping off customers. Given the prices in the bar as well, clearly London Marriotts are designed to fleece expense account travelers unmercifully. But frankly given the hoops I had to jump through, I wonder what I would have been charged if I hadn't found the logout button. I've got no reason to believe that I wouldn't still be racking up credit card charges.
Be careful out there.
