Yotels are coming to the UK
We have talked before about capsule hotels, you know those little claustrophobic cabins that can be booked by the hour, but now, one crazed entrepreneur is planning on peppering the UK with "Yotels".
Simon Woodroffe, of Yo Sushi fame, (yet another Simon from across the pond), is the mastermind behind this space capsule scheme. The epiphany hit Mr. Woodroffe after he took a first class British Airways flight. After six hours in a cramped metal tube, Mr. Woodroffe felt people would pay to spend a whole night in a cramped capule tube. He envisioned a hotel that combines the "Japanese capsule hotel and British Airways first class". Are you serious? Appears so.
At £10 an hour or £75 a night, guests can sleep in rooms measuring 10 square metres and without any proper windows. Rooms, which have been described by designers Priestman Goode as "luxury liner meets The Fifth Element", will also contain a flat screen TV, rotating bed (to save space), broadband and aeroplane-style lighting.
10 square meters? Isn't that around 100 square feet?
Well, that is probably closer than you think to the size of a Schrager property room.
Our advice to Mr. Woodroffe, just make sure you put in high ceilings.
