If all the booze and available drugs don’t give you enough of a Vegas zing, why not try the tried and true Italian caffeine fix?

Las Vegas businessman Gerald Shlesinger is bringing a down-to-earth, authentic taste of Italian coffee to Las Vegas.

Segafredo Zanetti Espresso, an Italian coffee line that's widely popular overseas, but unknown in the United States, will arrive in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops via Shlesigner soon.

Simon Property Group is building a $139 million expansion of its Roman-themed Forum Shops at Caesars, including the autumn addition of a replica of Rome's famed Trevi fountain just steps from the Strip. Shlesinger said a Simon executive insisted the mall's new wing should have an Italian atmosphere and directed his staff to place a Segafredo Zanetti cafe adjacent to a prime sidewalk location next to the fountain.

There were probably 500 (retailers) who wanted that spot," Shlesinger said. "Talk about timing."

To have the Forum Shops' traffic, and be outside near an area (the Trevi fountain replica) that's probably going to be one of the most photographed sites in Las Vegas, it's just phenomenal," Shlesinger said of his eatery, which will also offer pizza, salad, pasta and alcoholic beverages for sit-down and carry-out customers.

Family-owned Segafredo Zanetti does not release financial data, but Forbes magazine in May 2003 reported it was at that time the world's sixth-largest coffee retailer with annual sales of about $400 million.
