Tuscany Suites & Casino
Been driving down Flamingo Road a lot lately and have driven past the Tuscany Suites & Casino, whose parking lot generally looks full. The Tuscany opened its doors on January 17, 2003. The hotel opened in 2001. This property is just off the Strip on Flamingo Road, minutes from Bally's. Tuscany offers oversized guest suites; each suite is styled in a European setting.
For about a decade, a large boat sat on the property advertising a Caribbean themed casino that was never built. Tuscany majority owner Charles Heers bought the property from the Howard Hughes estate in 1988, but struggled to arrange financing for a themed megaresort he hoped to build. Instead, he built the all-suite Tuscany, an upscale hotel-casino which Heers and his staff hoped would capture business from local gamblers and visiting conventioneers.
The Tuscany hotel's primary markets are overflow customers from nearby megaresorts as well as convention business, while its casino will target Strip workers, other locals and convention visitors.
Location is a big advantage, as the Tuscany is close to the Flamingo Road-Strip intersection, two major convention centers, clusters of high-end apartments and time-shares and busy traffic on Flamingo and Paradise roads.
