Another tip, from another UK tipster: Check out Guesthouse West, a London B&B.

Guesthouse West in Notting Hill is one of the best hotels I've ever been to and I've been to hundreds!! It manages to be both trendy and friendly, truly unique for a London hotel in my opinion!

Notting Hill chic, without the giant price tags, but remember the property only has 20 rooms, so you might want to inquire with plenty of lead time on this one.

    This is a brilliant little hotel! Really gorgeous, modern but still cosy. Staff unpretentious and helpful. I'll be back!!!!
