Last night on Amazing Race 5 we witnessed god fearers lying, twin girls stripping and doing the backstroke for no apparent reason, and one rotund brother dropping a deserved blizatch on Mirna. What got lost in the shuffle of the race was the beautiful Patagonia backdrop, and the lodging facilities the racers visited along the way, but that is what we are here for, right?

Villa Catedral was the star of the whole gondala-up-then-paraglide-down segment, and this place looked incredible. Mostly because of the natural beauty that surrounded the Villa, but hey, if it looked this good without powder imagine this hill during riding season. The properties location alone is reason enough to take a closer look at it.

Here is what Patagonia-Argentina said about the Villa Catedral:

Villa Catedral, at the base of the hill, offers the tourist its traditional hotels and lodging centers, restaurants where the characteristic dishes of the region are served, such as smoked deer and all the different variations of trout and salmon, and the bars where the especial ambiance of après-ski (after-ski) reigns:

Sure this place looks like a great summer ski destination (Southern Hemisphere has summer during Northern Hemisphere winter, or at least that is what we learned in sixth grade science class), but the Amazing Racers showed us you can put Villa Catedral to good use in the winter (now, we are just confused, and don’t even get us started on the International Dateline) as well. Didn’t that paragliding event look like a blast?

Our Spanish isn’t very good, but it looks like the Villa web site might claim that Villa Catedral can be enjoyed throughout the whole year, and after last nights show, we would agree wholeheartedly.
