70 Park Ave: From Alpha to Open in 48 Hours?

Update: We hear 70 Park opened the doors today. The restaurant (Silver Leaf Tavern) is still not complete, look for the eatery to open in two weeks or so. One more thing, only 40 of the 205 guest rooms are currently open, so availability could be tight for some time. No estimate on when the other 165 rooms will be done. Staying here anytime soon? If so, let us know what you think.

This was the scene less than 48 hours ago over at 70 Park.  

Are they going to make it?  Today is suppose to be opening day for Kimpton's first New York hotel, 70 Park, but the scene two days ago (pictured here), makes me think they may not make it.  However, the staff was adamant that the hotel would open on time, so by all accounts it should be open today.

Ribbon cutting is slated for July 27th.  A full on ceremony with local yuk yuk's, Paula West live, and ice cream and apple pie.

Also on the 27th, visitors will be able to take a tour of 70 Park and confirm the "every room has a flat screen TV" rumor for themselves.

Can't wait to get reports on this property.
