Waiting for us was not only delightful turn-down service complete with fuzzy slippers, sweet anecdotes and a dried sea-star but also a commemorative bottle of Hotel Del Coronado wine. The attention to detail ensured my fondest memories of the Hotel Del would remain intact for years to come!
Mrs. Berti forgot to tell us that Hotel Del is right on the beach. She also forgot to mention that Hotel Del has one of those really addicting ice cream shops, where they mash up your ice cream on a giant metal slab,right in front of your eyes, and then the staff sings to you if you dust off the tip jar.
However, not all rooms have "wrap around decks", some rooms are fairly ordinary, and a bit cramped. Furthermore, if you go to Hotel Del, you need to realize you are staying at a crowded resort. Guests and locals are going to be crawling all over the place. You are staying at a historic hotel, and paying for it (sometimes handsomely). Just want to set your expectations correctly.
