Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island, my absolute favorite hotel in the entire world. As I opened the door to our second-floor room, nothing could have prepared me for the room's unexpected splendor. The corner unit was absolutely spectacular and the wrap-around deck with ocean views on two sides exceeded our every expectation!

That is a quote from Nicole Berti, Tony's wife. Tony Berti played in the NFL, then in the XFL, and now he is a real estate agent.  Recently, Nicole, wrote a book about her experiences as an NFL wife. Oh yeah, and she keeps a weblog.  Unfortunately, that is where the fun ends.  We headed over to her weblog hoping to get salacious details of "life as an NFL wife", and all we got were some very ordinary stories.  Maybe she saved the best stories for the book.

However, we did find a Hotel Del Coronado review tucked away in one of her entries.  Here are the rest of Mrs. Berti thoughts on the Coranado, followed by our thoughts on Hotel Del:

Waiting for us was not only delightful turn-down service complete with fuzzy slippers, sweet anecdotes and a dried sea-star but also a commemorative bottle of Hotel Del Coronado wine. The attention to detail ensured my fondest memories of the Hotel Del would remain intact for years to come!

Mrs. Berti forgot to tell us that Hotel Del is right on the beach. She also forgot to mention that Hotel Del has one of those really addicting ice cream shops, where they mash up your ice cream on a giant metal slab, right in front of your eyes, and then the staff sings to you if you dust off the tip jar.

However, not all rooms have "wrap around decks", some rooms are fairly ordinary, and a bit cramped. Furthermore, if you go to Hotel Del, you need to realize you are staying at a crowded resort. Guests and locals are going to be crawling all over the place. You are staying at a historic hotel, and paying for it (sometimes handsomely). Just want to set your expectations correctly.

You take the good, you take the bad,
you take them both and there you have
The Facts of Life.

Hotel Del

MarkJ-

Of course I saved my best stories for my book A FACE IN THE CROWD: My Life as an NFL Wife. My webblog, My Life as an NFL Wife, only serves to wet your appetite; not satiate it! Although, I do love your mention almost as much as the Hotel Del.

Thanks-

Nicole Berti

We want the dirt!

Tease us with something.  Junior Seau must have some dirty little secret you can share with us!

Glad you liked the mention.  Would love to see you become a member and submit some hotel stories.

Cheers, and good luck with the book.

Mark
