Hotel Gansevoort: Needs Looking Into

HotelChatter is receiving some negative reports on HK's newest creation, Hotel Gansevoort. When we stayed at Gansevoort's sister property, The Library, back in February, we were thoroughly impressed, and anxious to check out Gansevoort this summer. It is, after all, billed as a swank hotel with a rooftop pool in the meatpacking district.
However, in May, we received an anonymous report that the service at Gansevroot was not just lacking, but downright dismal. Apparently, a simple room service order took almost two hours! Ouch.
We took this first report as just that, one report, and filed it away until we heard more. Last week an email from a recent guest surfaced saying that "nothing worked" at the hotel. She cited the television, the wireless, and even the elevator as all being broken at one time or another during her stay.
We are holding our breath, and hoping that the hotel is just working out some early kinks (they opened in March); on the other hand, it is no doubt time for the hotel to get it together. When you pay upwards of $400 a night, the property is, rightfully, availed little room for error.
HotelChatter will be on the scene in NYC next month and we will be sure to stop by Gansevoort and try to get some answers.
This hotel is in a great location, is a great concept, and backed by a cool hotel company with a successful track record. Hopefully, they can turn it around, but we shall see.
Send us your Gansevoort reports.
