Avalon Hotel, Beverly Hills: See And Be Unseen
From the unflaggingly discreet mouths of its staff, you will never hear the names of the A-list guests at the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. Frankly, that's exactly how you know they're there. Just spotting the sign is a challenge, but once you're in, you're in.

Tucked into an unassuming residential corner of Olympic Boulevard, the Kor Group's mid-century modern boutique property, presents itself as the perfect discreet getaway if you`re looking for a change from rote Beverly Hills fare, industry chic, or time away from the paparazzi.
With just 86 rooms, including two mini-suites and a couple of penthouses, The Avalon is clearly not working the volume business model. The Kor Group's flair for design is evident here. The rooms are flashy and scream of modern/retro fusion. They are very nice, but the hotel is spread across three oddly shaped buildings, and the mix of styles and spaces is a bit forced.
However, the style investment does hit its stride in the common areas. The Avalon is a nice, quiet, out of the way place to grab a drink, or an award winning dinner. While the drinks are a bit pricey (around $12 for a house special), the ambiance is worth the expense. Take your drinks poolside and you'll have your choice of plush lounges, intimate conversation areas, or one of several poolside cabanas (complete with wireless connection).
The staff and service are impeccable and very discreet, making this the right spot to slip away for a while, no matter who you are.
