Britney Spears, new Boston hotel share the Onyx Hotel moniker

In late 2003 Britney Spears announced the name of her current tour: The Onyx Hotel.  Shortly thereafter, the Kimpton Group, owners of a new boutique hotel of the same name, realized they had a once in a lifetime marketing opportunity.  Rumor has it that the Kimpton people called the Britney people explaining "synergy" and "trademark violations".  In any event, according to the Boston Globe, there is a happy end to this story, Britney and her Mom are designing a room at Boston's newest boutique hot spot, aptly dubbed Onyx Hotel (opens May 17th). Furthermore, there are  rumors that Brit her self may even show up at the hotel when she is in the Boston area for a June concert.
