I found one post that recommended the Hollywood Hills Hotel as a good convenient place to stay. It was a self promotion, but a welcomed one since Craisglist is a community based website used for sharing information.

Lord of the Rings fans are celebrating with their "Return of the One Party". Though tickets are sold out, they will be staying in Hollywood at the HOLIDAY INN, Comfort Inn & Suites, Best Western, and Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.

If you're in San Diego and don't want to make the drive to Los Angeles, The Westgate Hotel is having a bash as well.
