THEhotel a great spot, but MIX having some issues?

[Editor’s Note: Remember when we told you about Mix? The hot new nightclub atop THEhotel with urinals overlooking the strip? Well, like most everything in Vegas, it didn’t take patrons long to ruin beauty with debauchery. Allegedly, folks have been vomiting all over the swank urinals and commodes, and some are doing far worse. All this in the first week! One more thing, when you guys are up in Mix with your digital cameras, snap a photo and hook us up will ya?]

THEhotel, the stylish and sophisticated alternive to the incessant bling of the Las Vegas strip, and is as striking as advertised; something like a boutique hotel writ large. But unlike your typical boutique hotel, style has not come at the cost of comfort, convenience and service.

Large suites with multiple flat screen TVs are standard. THEbathhouse (Spa) is only average, but it is peaceful, which is so important after an unfortunate blackjack session. The current restaurant selection is fine but limited, but the restaurants of Mandaly Bay are around the corner and all the fine dining of the Strip is in striking distance.

Only one bad word. The brand new ultra-lounge, MIX, has gotten off to rocky start. Similar to the now famous Ghostbar, it is a beautiful upperlevel lounge with a magnificant view of the Strip. However, there are some bad feelings about it among the staff. Apparently there was some bad behavior including girls vomitting in the bathroom and a drug overdose in the first week.

One THEhotel worker expressed disappointment that it could have been something special but seemed like it was going to end up just another obnoxiously hip Vegas ultra-lounge. Another claimed he was holding out hope that when Alain Ducasse opened his restaurant in the space next door, he would force THEhotel to clean it up.
