Once you press that glowing button to call for your elevator prepare for a ride that puts Mr. Toad's to shame. First off, of the three elevators only one seemed to work with any regularity. Chalk that up to growing pains right? Especially since contractors were constantly in and out of the elevators, presumably fixing the elevators, or finishing rooms on certain floors, since the hotel just opened.
One big problem with these contractors: They left an absolutely vile stench in the elevators, or on the floors that they would visit. Now the first time you get a waft of B.O. you might think, one rotten apple, but time after time as these contractors entered and left different elevators and different floors the stench was literally unbearable. Of course, once the contractors are gone for good, the stench will check out as well, but in the meantime prepare your senses for a rude awakening if you run into this crew in the elevators.
Once you get inside the rooms, you will not be impressed. The rooms are dormitory size, stark white, and are peppered with inexpensive looking furniture that you would expect to find at a side of the road motel. There is a flat screen television, but somehow it gets lost in the room, maybe it is because in this room, it was positioned off to the side, almost like an afterthought. Not exactly conducive to television viewing, though you probably wouldn't want to spend a whole lot of time in your room anyway.
DreamNY is still without Ipods (at least as of this writing), so don't expect to find them in your room.
Look, if you really want to check this place out have dinner, or lunch here, even hang out here at night, but for $300 a night, you can find yourself a better place to sleep. Maybe in a couple months once Dream works out the kinks and the smells, and puts in the Ipods, it may be worth a visit, but until then...
