Ticklers in the minibar at Hotel Gansevoort
The New York Times' Karen Rabinovitz' recent column on hotel minibar trends singled out the Gansevoort (Hotel O' Mixed Reviews) for their particularly naughty minibar sex kit:
The Gansevoort, in Manhattan, goes even further, with a Mile High Kit ($20) that includes a feather tickler, a personal massager and three condoms.
Apparently the logo tshirt (the former non-food minibar standard) has been replaced by a far more titillating (and better-selling) minibar option: the 60 Thompson Hotel in New York, Miami Beach's Delano and the Sagamore Hotel and the Montalambert in Paris all offer similar sex kits, containing everything from massage oils and lube to mints and towlettes.
Minibar sex kits might have an edge on sex toys to order, since they don't require a possibly embarassing call to room service. And like all minibar add-ons, sex kits make a good impulse buy.
In addition to the New York Times nod, the Gansevoort has been declared "Sexy" at Gay.com -- and in the Meatpacking District, that means big bucks for any business.
