Yes!Tokyo, the online home of Tokyo's convention and visitors' bureau, provides everything from tourist and convention info, to shop listings and seasonal sights and events, to maps and travel tips, to a quite useful lodging guide.

Each hotel listing includes photos, an area map, transportation tips, prices and other details, and contact info so you can make a reservation. Best of all, the listings span Tokyo's complete lodging scene. The efficient and easy-to-use search engine lets you search by class (deluxe, moderate, ryokan -- that's a traditional Japanese inn -- or youth hostel), area, and price bracket. You can also search for a hotel name or for all of the hotels near a particular rail station.

If you want to research the different areas before deciding whether Ginza or Shibuya district is more your speed, check out the link to Yes!Tokyo's TravelGuidebooks, which isn't a bunch of Amazon listings but a free online travel guide. Nice!
