Frequent Toronto traveler: "Priceline Really Works"
A Canadian traveler has found Priceline to be an effective solution in his quest to keep Canadian hotel costs right around $100 a night.
First, if you are Canadian, you should know that in order to make Priceline "work" with a Canadian credit card, you must to do the following:
Once you reach the address screen, use your city ONLY where requested, use CA (California) for the state and use 99999 for the zip code.
Ok, now that the semantics are out of the way let's see what this Canadian travel snagged off of Priceline:
It worked like a charm. My first booking was for a 3* in Downtown Toronto, which came out as the Best Western for 60$CDN, this coming week I am at the Radisson (3*) for 55$/night, and this past weekend, I stayed at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax for 60$CDN. It's a great way to save a little money when it's on your own tab.
He adds one more important caveat, "If you need any sort of flexibility, remember that priceline gives you none."
Oh, and if you want to go at Priceline engineer style, check out this post from late last year.
Happy hunting hotel mavens.
