Riddle us this: Sheraton's SoHo Invasion, Liberating or Aggravating

November 19, 2004 at 8:32 AM | 2 Comments

Hotel News Resource reports that a new Four Points by Sheraton will open a new moderately-priced hotel in New York City's Soho area. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

We know, we know, SoHo is sacred, after all the Apple Store, and Gawker Media world headquarters are there. But staying in SoHo usually costs a small fortune, could Sheraton's new Four Points Soho Village actually help folks experience a cool area of NY for a reasonable rate? Not everyone can stay at the Mercer, right?

The hotel will offer high-speed wireless Internet access and Four Points' new Four Comfort Bed. The Four Points Chelsea, seems to be holding its own, does this bode well for the SoHo property? We have until 2006, when the hotel opens, to figure all this out, but why not start now?

So our question is this, Sheraton Four Points in SoHo, good or bad? Let us know in the comments.

    looking forward to this

I've always felt sheraton four points provided the most bang for the buck.   SoHo hotels are neither cheap nor big. I'm interested in seeing if they can pull this off.

    Yes Already

Any new hotel in New York that doesn't have a rack rate starting at $565 a night is a good thing.  Four Points isn't exactly hipster heaven, but then, neither is shopping at Victoria's Secret on Broadway.  Besides, it's a better alternative to the dreaded Off Soho Suites for those who cannot afford (nor will they ever be able to) The Mercer.
