Let the extravagance begin! DC hotels tout inauguration packages

Inauguration day is January 20, 2005 and you will need a full off shore bank account to secure one of the best rooms in town.  While these packages sound more like P.Diddy than GOP, sleep tight knowing that this is what the government mucky mucks will be up to in Washington come inauguration day.

The Ritz is offering four nights in a luxury suite, first-class airfare, a couple seats to the inaugural, a butler who travels to a guest's home to pack their belongings in new Louis Vuitton luggage, and almost any other perk you can think of.  All this will cost you $150,000.

If you are on a $25,000 budget, you can check out the Hay-Adams Hotel four night package in a suite with panoramic views of the White House.  This package also comes with a "at-your-service" Cadillac sedan and a Tiffany "keepsake" of some sure, but this package sold late last week, so you will have to keep looking for your inauguration package.

In fact, the entire Hay-Adams is completely sold out, as is the  Washington Hilton, scene of the 1981 assassination attempt on President Reagan.  Many DC hotels are already sold out for the days around the inauguration, so you will have to look hard, and open your wallet wide to grab a room in the DC area during inauguration days.

The money goes to the hotels, instead of the GOP, or an inaugural planning committee.
