Hotel Gansevoort: Coming in from the Cold
November 2, 2004 at 4:26 AM | 0 Comments
[Publisher's note: As y'all know, we have been following the Gansevoort since opening, and up to now it has fallen flat on its face, according to the reports we have received. However, this report indicates the hotel might be turning a corner, ok, all it really suggests is that they are running a winter deal. So what is the deal? Is the Gansevoort's service getting any better? Are they working the kinks out? Or is this the classic "every squirrel finds a nut every so often"? Let us know, by commenting on any of the Hotel Gansevoort stories, or emailing us.]
Hotel Gansevoort is billed as "the first full-service luxury hotel in Manhattan's Meatpacking District." The Gansevoort offers avant-garde architecture, a rooftop 45-foot heated pool with underwater music and surrounding gardens, and 9-foot ceilings and plasma televisions in every room.
If you're not familiar with the area, NYC's Meatpacking District is full of galleries, stylish boutiques, hot clubs and restaurants, and, well, meat markets and warehouses. The Gansevoort is in a sweet spot -- just a short walk from all the action of Soho and the West Village, and with a 360 degree rooftop view that takes in the Hudson River and the lights of Tribeca.
If you find yourself hankering for a bit of Gotham this winter, the West Village's windswept, snowy streets should be just up your alley -- and it looks like the Gansevoort will be, too. Available now through February, take advantage of the "Coming in from the Cold" Escape Package, which includes valet parking, a massage, cognac, scented candles and other bath goodies, and a plush robe. At $575 for a Deluxe room and $775 for a Suite, it's not cheap, but it's probably the swankiest time one can have in this swanky neighborhood.
