Flamingo Has a Virus, Allegedly
If you're going to the Flamingo, you might want to bring some disinfectant.
A flulike illness that has stricken employees and guests at the Flamingo Hilton is believed to be caused by a type of Noro virus, but the Clark County Health District won't know for sure until today, when test results come back.
"We're operating under the assumption that it is Noro, but we won't have those results until tomorrow," a hotel spokesperson said.
Since Oct. 16, there have been about 200 people affected by the illness, which has such symptoms as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and headaches, according to Flamingo spokesman Robert Stewart.
He said that of the roughly 200 cases, about two-thirds have been employees and one-third have been guests.
"We continue to work with the health department to deep-chemical-clean rooms and public spaces," he said. "It appears reports of illnesses are declining substantially."
