Hampton Inn Chelsea
The Hampton Inn Chelsea might be a little pricey (about $230 a room) but it's well worth it. Placed right around the corner from an F train station and popular Mac shop Tekserve, and just a couple of blocks from great New York restaurants like Burritoville and F&B, you can't beat the location.
It's no mystery why this place fills up so far in advance: The rooms are surprisingly roomy for a New York hotel, and are full of amenities like high-speed internet access, cozy beds and my personal favorite, radio alarm clocks with buttons for hip-hop and other music genres. Nice.
Perhaps most notable about this Hampton Inn: the staff are a bunch of sweethearts. We took over their dining room to set up for a conference and not only did our mess and noise not bother them -- they loaned us their luggage carts and turned on the machines usually reserved for breakfast to hook us up with free guava juice.
The final verdict: Highly recommended, if you don't mind paying a little extra for the fantastic location.
