A computer, stolen credit cards and Craigslist was all a Manhattan man needed to pilfer thousands of dollars from Hotels.com, according to 1010wins.com. His scheme? Book rooms on hotels.com with stolen credit cards, then sell those rooms on Craigslist to folks looking for a Manhattan hotel room.

Marco Stefano Marescotti, allegedly used stolen credit cards to book rooms at the Mayflower, the Waldorf Astoria, the Atrium, and other NY hotels.

Once the rooms were booked, Marescotti posted the rooms for around $90 on Craigslist. In a city where a room under $200 can be tough to find, these rooms must have flown off the virtual shelves at Craigslist.

Apparently, Marescotti would meet his customers in the lobby of the hotel and collect his fee. Furthermore, Marescotti would stay in the rooms himself.  Perhaps he would like to write a couple stories for HotelChatter reviewing his stays?  Guess he might be tied up with legalese for a while.
