Rancho Bernardo Inn

My husband and I went to the Rancho Bernardo Inn on a quick getaway while visiting family in San Diego. We had heard that it was a really nice resort in a quiet nearby setting. The hotel was lovely, with two pools and plenty of tennis courts. In the bathroom we found Aveda products and I fell in love with the Rosemary Mint Shampoo.
We wanted to go to the restaurant there, El Bizcocho, which received Zagat's highest award for food 1999-2002. Unfortunately, it seemed to be one of the few restaurants in San Diego that requires a jacket for men. They had one to loan my husband, but I would have felt too underdressed myself, wearing only shorts and casual clothes.
The only complaints we had during our stay at the Rancho Bernardo Inn was the 20% gratuity they automatically added to the already overpriced massage. When we got our bill we saw that they had also added a "service fee" to our minibar charge for a bag of Skittles! The staff, however, was cooperative and removed the entire charge when I complained.
