I had the opportunity to stay at The Sagamore recently for a three day business conference. It is a fantastic place to stay, whether on business or pleasure.

The Sagamore was built in 1883 with luxurious and spacious accommodations. It attracted a select international clientele, but by 1981 it had fallen into disrepair and was closed. In 1983 it was purchased by a real estate developer from Philadelphia and it has been restored to its former glory.

The Sagamore is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and can be found in Bolton Landing on Lake George in New York. It is also within the borders of the six million acre New York Adirondack State Park, created in 1892.

The facilities are wonderful (elegant!) and you do not even have to leave the grounds for meals. It has 7 dinning facilities from the Trillium (appropriate evening attire) to Mister Brown's Pub. There is The Veranda, Club Grill, The Sagamore Dinning Room, Waterfront Cabana, and even The Morgan (for that scenic dinner cruise of Lake George).

The rooms range from the basic one room with bath to suites (I had one of these and it looked out over the lake as well - did I mention it had a fireplace?). There are plenty of things to do in the area as well as a fantastic golf course. There is transportation from the Albany airport as well as the Amtrak station, so no reason to say you can't get there. I would say you could really enjoy this place Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring. Give them a call, or check them out online. Have fun!
