HotelChatter’s Editorial and Disclosure Policy

HotelChatter is a collaborative web publication that takes integrity seriously. We publish both stories from HotelChatter editors, travel writers, and hotel users worldwide. We read every story that is submitted and try to publish only authentic hotel stories. We also link our users to outside stories we feel may be of benefit to them. HotelChatter believes every hotel stay is an experience. By offering you a wealth of hotel information from different sources, we help you have the best hotel experiences possible.

Our goal is to bring hotel users to the forefront, cut through the marketing mumbo jumbo and bring you the real story on hotels around the world. Our publication is a mixture of original content, user content, user conversations, and hotel scuttlebutt from around the Web. We have developed guidelines that set out certain minimum standards and fundamental rules in order to uphold our integrity.

HotelChatter will disclose business relationships in editorial content whenever relevant.
As part of our mission, HotelChatter has business relationships with a growing number of companies in the hospitality industry. Our editors disclose business relationships in editorial content whenever relevant, specifically in any content where Hotel Chatter has received a service from these entities.

Ads are marked clearly
HotelChatter is an advertising-driven business. We generate revenue by selling advertisements in the form of banners, sponsorships, special advertising sections, and co-branded services. Advertisements or links that differ from the standards specified by the Internet Advertising Bureau are labeled advertising, sponsor, or sponsored links to avoid confusion. Some advertisements do not need labeling because they are obviously ads.

HotelChatter will disclose the business model
HotelChatter receives referral fees from merchants when we match buyers with sellers.

Corrections
We correct any errors that are brought to our attention as expediently as possible. We fact check all error reports to ensure their authenticity.

Treatment Of Hotel Employee
We ask all hotel employees not to submit reviews that simply denigrate a competitor. If you insist on submitting such stories we will sift them out and swiftly discard them. However, we do encourage hotel employees to submit stories for publication as appropriate. Identify yourself as a hotel employee somewhere in your submission. Your compliance with full disclosure will give your stories a better chance of getting published. We believe hotel employee opinions are important, and they do have valuable information to offer to our users, but our users must know the source of that information.

Linking to external sites
HotelChatter links to outside content that could be considered offensive by certain readers. The use of a hyperlink never constitutes an endorsement of a company, product, or opinion. The use of the hyperlink does not imply that HotelChatter agrees with the content being linked to and provides no guarantee that the content contains accurate information. HotelChatter editors are under no obligation to link to any site.
