INTERNET

We set up in our room at the Borgata and to our dismay, we couldn't get on the internet. So we dialed Front desk and an automated voice said, "For billing inquiries press 1. For other inquiries press 2." The pre-recorded woman's voice says inquires like this, "in quarries."

So we pressed 2 and an operator said, "How can i help you?" We told them the internet wasn't working and they said, "Ok we'll connect you to front desk. 10 rings later a woman answered at the front desk. We told her the problem. She says an IT person will call us back.

He does and his name is Don. Don assumed we are working off a PC but we informed him we were working off Firefox on a Mac. Don says Firefox bad, Safari good. And it was.

So while we were at first pissed that we had to go through so many channels to talk to an IT person, it was helpful to have an IT guy assist us. Because he knew the answer in about .08 seconds. As opposed to struggling with a front desk operator who has never used a Mac.

However, I suggested they should put this helpful bit of info on their internet cards--Mac users open Safari browser--and Don told us those internet cards are really old. We also think a button on your phone that says IT dept would be helpful too. Like can we get Don's cellphone number? Kidding.

The next day, we had problems again and this required an in-room visit from a tech guy. (Sadly, not Don.) The new guy simply replaced our cable which he said he does about five times a day since the cables are so thin and wear out easily. But after that, the internet worked fine and we weren't charged for the first day of internet access.
