THE COMMON AREAS
1. Discrete Lobby and Staff: You know what's the worst? When hotel staff are all up in your grill when you're trying to just do your own thing. It's nice to be acknowledged, but when you're coming and going during a stay, do you want a hotel staffer to ask you some awkward question like, "enjoying the nightlife around here?" It makes you feel like you're being watched and, sometimes, judged -- don't make us feel bad about who we're bringing up to our room! Stop watching us!
2. Sexy Lobby Bar: As long as we're talking about it, the lobby bar scene can be an integral part of the hotel sex experience, too. Not only is it important for the scene to be filled with people other than stressed-out, alcoholic business travelers, but it should also be a cool, intimate setting ripe for sexytime. Heed this one piece of advice: walk in and ask yourself, "Self, does this look like a place you might be able to get laid?" If not, go elsewhere.
3. Child-Free: And hopefully that "elsewhere" isn't a family hotel. We all know that a hotel lobby with a bunch of screaming kids running around is a boner-killer like none other.
