We wouldn’t normally put a budget business hotel chain down as geek heaven, but the UK's City Inn brand has done itself proud by installing iMacs in all its rooms to take care of your TV, radio and computer needs. There’s a 100-strong DVD library downstairs if you get bored of iLife (they rotate titles) and a bounteous selection of electric sockets on either side of the bed, so you can geek up together, and there's an extension lead under the iMac.
If you need to print, hit the button on the iMac – it’ll print out downstairs (10p per sheet). And for any other geek freakouts (missing DVD/pendrive/adapter etc) there’s an “IT doctor’s kit” in a big steel case at guest services.
Even better, suites have an iMac in both the bedroom and the living room, and a Bose sound system to bump up the volume on the latter.
There are City Inns in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds. Prices start from £59, or £99 in London.
