Best Geek Hotels in 2009
Best Geek Hotels in 2009 :: 1 :: 2 :: 3 :: 4 :: 5
This Manhattan hotel has some pretty serious historical literary ties: not only did it play host to Dorothy Parker's famous Round Table, but it is also recognized by many to be the "birthplace" of the New Yorker magazine.
And bringing in a bit of 09-style geekiness while giving a shoutout to the hotel's literary roots simply cannot be adequately accomplished with a fancy bookshelf in the lobby (like the myriad of hotels currently on board with the now-kinda-overdone lobby bookshelf trend). Nuh-uh. The Algonquin will do you one better, word nerds: they've got Amazon Kindles.
Guests at the hotel can swing by the front desk and check out (free of charge!) one of the hotel's two Amazon Kindles, which come into your hot little hands fully loaded with a couple of best-sellers, some classics, and, naturally, books written by Round Table members like Edna Ferber and Robert Benchley. You can also download your own books onto the hotel's Kindles using your Amazon.com account if you're craving something specific.
