While Istanbul, Dubai and the Bahamas have still not opened their planned underwater hotels, we have seen an underwater suite open at the Conrad Maldives.
However, if you truly want an underwater hotel experience, the place to be under the sea remains the Jules Undersea Lodge (named after explorer Jules Verne) in Key Largo, Fla. We discovered this place way back in 2003 and it looks like not much has

They've been hyped up for years but when it comes to actually opening, well, let's just say there's never been a real opening date set for any of these projects. Same goes for Space Hotels.
But at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island they've put together a reasonable way to spend a night underwater---by turning their underwater restaurant, Ithaa, into a suite for two for an evening in honor of the restaurant's fifth anniversary. Guests who book the suite will get a private champagne dinner and breakfast in bed. Oh and the chance to wake up looking up (not down) at

Istanbul: Still Not Happening: Istanbul's Fantastical Underwater Hotel

You think: "wow wouldn't that be great! Too bad it'll never actually get built." Well, that's how we feel about the rumored Underwater Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, which—believe it or not—is due to open later this year.
YEAH RIGHT. Nevermind that we don't have a name for the hotel (the rumor is it's called "Poseidon"--snore!) and nevermind that the information about the place is the same stuff being circulated since early 2008; we would really like to sleep in a 7-star hotel underwater, so we want it to work out, damnit.
Yes, you heard that right—this baby is aiming to be a 7-star

Underwater Hotel at the Great Barrier Reef: Is It Really Eco-Friendly?

The bathrooms will have glass walls so all the fish will be able to see what you're up to in there! The plan is to combine it with a research facility, and also power the whole thing using solar panels and its own turbines and "underwater trickle-charge generators".

It sounds a bit
