Start-up hotel chain NYLO Hotels must have taken Dorothy's words to heart when she said, "There's no place like home." A tipster told us that NYLO is looking to expand into Kansas. The company has its eye on Wichita for its next project.

According to our source, it will be a 125-bed hotel tailored to business travelers and entertainment consumers. The as-yet-unnamed hotel will be part of a mixed-use commercial development set on 33 acres. The hotel rooms will resemble loft apartments, the signature of NYLO's other properties.

Even in a year of earthquakes and snowicanes, the recent flooding in Rhode Island and other parts of the Northeast was some of the worst weather the region has seen. And for the still-new NYLO Warick the results were very bad indeed.

Two weeks after the storm, the hotel is still closed and may stay that way for up to four months, according to Hotels magazine. Local news channels in Warwick reported that two feet of water flooded the first floor of the hotel, which was being ripped out and replaced by clean-up crews repairing the damage.

NYLO Las Colinas opened its doors in July with a lovely ribbon-cutting ceremony, after lots of anticipation and a whole lotta slowdown with the chain's expansion. Better late than never on this one, we suppose — the NYLO chain has been a fave of HC's since the first property opened in Dallas in winter of 2007, and its middle child was born in Warwick, Rhode Island and now Irving, Texas (Las Colinas) boasts the third property in the still-young chain.

So, how does property number three appear to be faring? So far, so good — at least according to the lone review of the place on TripAdvisor.
