So thats how we ended up trotting along to the <a href='http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel/local/229'>Langham London</a> this week, to try the new <A HREF="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2011/9/7/113537/2290/hotels/The_Langham_London_s_New_Afternoon_Tea_Is_Diamond_Literally_">Stephen Webster Bijoux Tea</A> that launched last month. First thing to know book ahead. Weekends can book up to five weeks in advance. Weekdays are a little easier, since there are three sittings. On the day we went, there was space for the 5.30pm sitting. But you dont want to risk that book about a week in advance. Second thing to know:

Mmm, afternoon tea. It doesn't have to look good for us to take an interest, but that's always a bonus. Hence we're currently salivating over the Stephen Webster Bijoux Tea at the Langham Hotel London.

Stephen Webster, for those who don't know, is a jewellery artist, so the tea - which has been inspired by his Murder She Wrote collection - is lovely and bright, or, as the Langham says, "celebrates both British fashion and traditional afternoon tea with transgressive design and literary heritage." No diamonds, unfortunately, but you do get shimmering icing and gold cakes.

It's summer and a hot cuppa may be the last thing you want. But we'll risk overheating to take some sips at Crescent Hotel's pop-up salon, but there won't be an egg salad sandwich or Earl Grey in sight.

Dubbed Kettle Whistle, the exotic three-flight afternoon tea will feature Taiwanese oolong and some untraditional pairings. The event will take place throughout the Bay Area each month. The inaugural pop-up tea salon will take place in the hotel's Burritt Room on June 25.

We're not sure which part was our favorite exactly, but Kate's departure (and the first glimpse of the Sarah Burton-designed Alexander McQueen dress) from <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Goring/local/3275">The Goring</a> definitely ranks up there. As we've <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2011/4/27/161848/171/hotels/The+Goring+Will+Officially+See+Plenty+Royal+Action+Starting+Tomorrow+Night">previously reported</a>, The Goring is Middleton headquarters this week, as Kate stayed there last night, prepped for the wedding there, had her final fitting with Sarah Burton there, and her parents will remain there tonight. Therefore we're betting that it's going to be a feat to access the hotel to soak in some of the royal spirit.
