Up in the snowy mountains of Alberta, Canada, you can swim all winter long--even if it's minus 40 outside. We were skeptical when we first spotted this outdoor pool at <a href='http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel/local/3161'>The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge</a> last week. It is heated, of course, but look at those mountains! And the snow surrounding the pool edge! Lucky for us, it wasn't minus 40 as it has been recently in Jasper, but the temp was still hovering in the mid-30s. In fact, the hotel came out of a $50 million renovation in 2010 and we only saw the place in its shiny newness just last month. First impressions? Niiiice. Oh, it's still vanilla enough to please the majority of travelers, but there's a hint of an Amazon jungle in those dark woods and LED underlights. Specifically our attention was drawn to the reception backsplashan undulating wave pattern of lights that begins at the ceiling, and flows down underneath the desk, out towards the center of the lobby floor.
