We also had a chance to check out the other resident's of the Ace building: Clyde Commons, a restaurant, and Stumptown Coffee, a coffee shop.

Two words: Very. Yes.

First of all, genius to have both extending right off the lobby. There are coffee shops on every block in Portland, so this a great way to keep

New York: Ace Hotel NYC's Bunk Beds Open to Reservations

This has been quite the year for hotels, and most notably in New York where not one, but two former SRO residences are entering second lives as hip hotspots. The recent months may have been dominated by the transformation of The Jane from the old Hotel Riverview, but now the playing field widens as the Seattle-based Ace Hotel preps to pounce onto New York's scene with a renovation of Midtown's Breslin Hotel.

New York: Ace Hotel NYC To Open on Feb. 1st

If you had any doubts, Ace Hotels is definitely still on for its New York location. A rep just emailed us some snapshots that were taken at the College Music Journal '08 Music Marathon & Film Festival in NYC and included some hotel opening info as well.
The Ace Hotel Portland sponsored the Ace Photo Booth at the PDX@CMJ event which featured nearly 30 Portland bands. Aside from giving party-goers the opportunity take crazy photos of themselves, the booth also promoted the forthcoming NYC hotel and the Palm Springs hotel.
Ace NYC is on for Feb. 1st and Palm Springs will open in mid-January. We can't wait.

They now have a reservations page up! Isn't it pretty?
Of course you can't actually make reservations yet. But soon. Pretty soon, in fact. Stay tuned.
Interestingly enough, the sizzle factor of this new hotel is raising expectations for other remodels and updates.
The Desert Sun recently reported that renovations for the Palm Springs Travelodge were rejected by the Palm Springs Architectural Advisory Committee because they were too boring. Awesome, right? Who knew there were other crusaders out there marching for our cause?

[Committee member Doug] Hudson said the hotel is a good example of 1950s
