Los Angeles has been in need of a proper W Hotel--in the middle of the action, not tucked away in Westwood--for a looong time.

Sooo...what do you think? We are happy to see that the guestrooms here have gone the way of W South Beach, which has some of our favorite new hotel rooms on the planet, as opposed to W Boston,

It could only mean one thing--W Hollywood Hotel and Residences is getting close to opening.
The official opening date is not until January 15, 2010 (pushed back from December 3 and reservations don't start until January 28) but the hotel is nearing completion, at least on the exterior.
We took some late-night shots for you which you can peruse in our gallery here. The place is going to be massive, especially since there are residences attached to the building and a Red Line metro stop that runs through the

The hotel is expected to open on November 24, 2009 and we have to admit, we're rather excited about this W.
While the NYT article focused much on the business of press film junkets that the hotel hopes to acquire, we were psyched to hear that the hotel sits above a Metro station, something you hardly find within walking distance of LA-area hotels. The line ferries passengers between the Valley and Downtown Los Angeles.
Whether folks in Los Angeles will actually use it is still undetermined. But the presence of the Metro will give hotel guests the feel
