New York City: Where to Stay for the Tribeca Film Festival

Movie buffs are getting ready to hit up the 12-day Tribeca Film Festival from April 20 to May 1. If you plan on visiting New York City to join other movie-goers at the fest, book your hotel now—last year, the event drew 410,000 cinephiles, filmmakers and actors.

Of course, you'll want to stick close to the trendy Tribeca 'hood to be in the middle of all the action. Here are some hotels that are still open for next week's 10th annual festival.

Seems work on the 44-story project will finally recommence, at least according to a tipster who sent us <a href="http://www.tribecatrib.com/news/2011/feb%20ruary/905_sam-chang-resurrecting-plans-%20for-44-story-financialdistrict-hotel.html">a report in The Tribeca Trib</a>, which says that Chang and his partners will present the latest plans at a March 2 community board meeting. The report also says it's slated to become a Holiday Inn. According to previously disclosed details, the hotel is meant to have 350 rooms. Gene Kaufman Architects, of the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/Tri-Pack%20Hotel">Tri-Pack Hotel</a> and <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Hotel+373+Fifth+Avenue/local/4308">Hotel 373</a> among others, will handle the design.

New York: The Penthouse at the Greenwich Hotel to Get Downsized (And Then Will It Finally Open?)

While the regular rooms are spacious enough at Robert DeNiro's Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca, if you'd rather stay in the penthouse suite, you're gonna have to wait a little bit longer.

New York City's Landmarks Preservation Commission has ordered the hotel to make their penthouse roof smaller. Apparently, the initial building plans for the hotel were approved without the inclusion of a penthouse. The penthouse was built anyways, much to the landmarks commission's dismay. The hotel's architect then had to come up with a new plan for the roof which was approved today.
