Yes, the very same Greenwich Hotel that <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2008/4/1/152845/4313/hotels/Robert_DeNiro_s_Greenwich_Hotel_Cancelled_Our_Reservation">infamously blacklisted us</a> on its opening day in March 2008.We knew before we booked our room on that black day that the hotel had a media exclusive. We promised not to run our photos until the exclusive was published but the hotel didn't want to take any chances. Just in time for the Tribeca Film Festival, Robert DeNiro will be making an appearance Sunday night at the Tribeca Grand Hotel. Kind of. Robert DeNiro in the form of the utterly psychotic Travis Bickle will flash across the silver screen inside the hotel. (You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me?) Who can resist?

We can't. The hotel is extending their Grand Life series from their AM Grand Sunday Brunch with complimentary kiddie films to the PM with screenings of classics and cult faves.

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/1425/greenwich1.jpg" class="top"> Considering that <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Greenwich+Hotel/local/1047">Greenwich Hotel</a> owner Bobby DeNiro is also the man behind the Tribeca Film Festival, we expected his hotel to be either sold-out or ridonkulously expensive, like the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2009/4/8/155935/1278/hotels/Only_Rich_Folk_Will_Be_Attending_the_Kentucky_Derby">Kentucky Derby hotels.</a>To our genuine surprise, we found rooms on April 22nd, the start of the film festival for a mere $475 a night via the hotel's website. That was for a 325-sq.ft. courtyard room, one of the starting room categories. The Greenwich Room (395-sq.ft.) was going for $525. Sure, these aren't recession-friendly prices but they aren't as jacked up as they could be. Looking for an even cheaper stay at the start of the festival? An interlude at the Tribeca Grand Hotel this past holiday weekend led to more than our usual share of disappointment: they have stopped serving their famous buffet brunch!

What was once a shining example of the grand tradition of hotel buffets, the weekend brunch from 10am to 3pm held in the atrium's Church Lounge was basically a $30 jumbo shrimp-for-all. So you can understand how our heart sank when we descended for such an experience at the ripe hour of noon and were instead greeted only with a menu stating that "breakfast" ended at 11am.
