Los Angeles: Does Anything Look Weird To You About This Room At the Standard Hollywood?

<![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/61268/SubStandardRoom.jpg" class="top">Because a lot should seem weird about this room at the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Standard+Hotel+LA/local/141">Standard Hollywood</a>, which isn't even a real room, but a re-construction of a room, assembled in the Standard's parking lot by a group of artists. Yup. Apparently there's a citywide project, titled <a href="http://artintheparkingspace.blogspot.com/">Art in the Parking Space</a>, which inserts performances and installations into (you guessed it!) parking lots all over LA. And last week, it was the Standard's own parking lot that, according to one of the participating artists, "became a total hang-out spot." Tova Carlin, Ania Diakoff and Katerina Llanes, dubbed their installation Sub-Standard (we could slip in a few jabs about the rooms here, but we'll try not to), and specifically intended for

And it might be a while before things do as hotelier <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/tag/andre balazs">Andre Balazs</a> told the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204652904577191252657788624.html">Wall Street Journal</a> that he was still figuring things out.However, Andre does plan on making the hotel "cost-conscious" with rooms starting at about $190. Given that these rooms are incredibly small, we think that's a fair rate. <![CDATA[<img src="http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/61268/standardhotelviewcorner.jpg" class="top">Michael Fassbender could have just been going along with the <a href="http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/The+Standard+NYC/local/795">Standard New York</a>'s exhibitionist trend when witnesses caught him <a href="http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/56822151.html">in the act</a> inside one of the hotel's see-through rooms. But as it turns, out, Fassbender was just filming one of the scenes for Shame, a new movie directed by Steve McQueen that follows the life of a sex-crazed businessman (played by Fassbender) in NYC. And, not to condone such lurid behavior, but, man, this guy gets down. Like, everywhere. Including The Standard, which beautifully sets the scene for two climactic moments in the film. The first happens inside the Boom Boom Room, where Carey Mulligan (who plays Fassbender's sister), made up a little like Marilyn Monroe,

New York: The Cooper Square Hotel is Now Officially The Standard East Village

Just the other night we were perusing hotels in New York City on a couple of booking sites and lo and behold, look at what we saw--the Cooper Square Hotel is now officially rebranded as Andre Balazs Standard East Village.

We first got word of the hotel's Standardization back in October but now it looks like the transformation is complete, at least online. Not only do booking sites like Expedia and Kiwi Collection (pictured below) show the CSH as the Standard East Village, but when you visit Cooper Square's website, it redirects you to the Standard site.
