"Girly" but not gaudy: Hotel Le Bristol, Paris

With all the talk and controversy surrounding female-only floors at hotels in London and Copenhagen, our thoughts have turned markedly more femme-oriented in recent weeks.

Certainly "women-friendly" hotels are nothing new; ladylike touches and targeted packages (think: bachelorette weekend, Fashion Week, and Sex and the City-themed deals) are often dreamt up to attract a female clientele.

But what hotels are truly catering to women, minus the gaudy marketing tactics? We take a closer look at three European accommodations for ladies doing just that sans tiaras, pink-splashed walls, or cringe worthy frills.

Madrid : A Hotel For Plants? Now We've Heard It All

We suppose we should have seen this coming. After all, if you can book a massage for your dog, and make use of pet loyalty programs, then it's really no surprise that a shopping mall in Madrid is now offering a hotel for plants.

Hotel Para Plantas, which had exceeded its bandwidth limit when we tried to visit its site, is located inside the Isla Azul shopping center, located off the M-40 highway. Not too far away is the Egido Via Lusitana, with rates starting at €46. So even if you prefer to ride with your cacti on the airplane, you can at least have separate sleeping quarters once you land in Madrid.

Sevilla: Bueno! The Waldorf Astoria Sevilla to Open This Summer

Not content with one luxe country retreat in London (Syon Park), The Waldorf Astoria Collection has announced another one in Sevilla, Spain, their first ever hotel in the country.

The brand is converting the Hacienda La Boticaria into Waldorf Astoria Sevilla and what's more it will open this Summer. Talk about quick work!

The original building opened in 2004 and has a massive 40 acres of private grounds for guests to go wild in. According to the release "The property will be a warm and inviting hideaway, where guests will discover the delights of the Andalusian lifestyle while enjoying exceptional facilities." So no student rampages here then.
